Downloading pictures from canon rebel xti to macbook?

When im downloading pictures from canon rebel xti to macbook i use iphoto. but sometimes when i drag the photos from the camera to my library is makes doubles! why?!

    If you have iPhoto set to automatically get pictures from your camera and then you drag the pictures off your camera and also put them in iPhoto, you will have two copies of the same picture in your iPhoto folder.

    I had a similar problem so I just told iPhoto to automatically copy the pictures off my camera and I don't worry about it anymore.
