It’s a good camera(i’m thinking of buying one myself) but is it worth buying is a only a question you can answer. If you have loads of money then yes, on a budget will you use it to its full potential and produce works of art then yes again.
Honestly? I had it and took it back. It was not worth the extra $100-$200 from the XTi 2 or 3 months ago. My honest suggestiong is to buy the Canon XS (1000D) Its pretty much the same as the XSi, but $200 or so cheaper. Has the same kit lens, same Digic III processing, same crappy Live View (canon sucks at the live view lol), and almost the same LCD (2.5″ to 3″ for XSI) and almost the same FPS (3fps for XS to the 3.5 fps for the XSi) I have the XTi and love it. My opinion is that live view in a DSLR is not worth the extra money. The only time you could use it is on a tripod. No one would ever hold a DSLR like a point & shoot. The camera and lense is just too heavy to hold it steady. And I don’t use a tripod all that much, so it is a waste of money to me.
I have the XTi and am very satisfied with it! Go to a good camera store and try them out. You are the only one who can tell which one is right for you!

since i own an EOS 450D, i can say Canon 450D is worth buying for, very practical and user friendly.
