I'd love to find a compact digital camera that takes (near) SLR quality photos, takes videos, fits in a purse (doesn't have to be a small purse), and is all auto use. I don't need special lens or anything else. I also want a fast shutter speed–I'm trying to catch an active 2 yr old! Ok I really don't know much about cameras. Well I currently have a Kodak easy share z760 camera, But now I'm looking for something different. I want something a lot skinnier. I want something with around 8 and up megapixels. I want it to take videos, have pictures, and be a reasonable prices preferably in the 100s. Any help, please. Or does anyone know any good brands for cameras.

I'm trying to choose between the 2. they are both digital cameras but the nikon coolpix is 8 megapixels and the Kodak is 6 megapixels. the nikon is a little more expensive.

Okay, I dropped my beloved camera this weekend and it broke. I didn't have a warranty (first mistake) so I'm looking for a new one now. I want one that has really good features (like different picture and video modes, etc) , is durable, records movies, and most importantly, takes pictures FAST and has image stabilization (my old Nikon took 5-10 seconds to take a picture and they always came out blurry). Also, it needs to be Mac-compatible (I've never heard of a camera that wasn't but I thought I'd throw it out there). I don't want to spend more than $250, and it would be awesome if the camera came in different colors. Also, I need one that's available in stores because I don't want to order it online. If you have any recommendations or buying tips or anything, let me know! And yes, before you say it, I'm getting a warranty no matter what!
