    Device drivers are normally bundled with the OS. Try this…

    a miniDV vcam must be DV~Firewire400**-connected to pc to upload video thru video capture or video editing* application while vcam is ON PLAYBACK. Before cable purchase** check PC for DV port {VCAM@4pin=>firewireCABLE=>PC@4/ 6pin?}. If none, install firewire card: pci for desktop or pcmcia / express for laptop.

    entry-level Movie Maker* (free w/ Vista/wmm6 & XP/wmm2) is simple & easy to learn. Upgrade to intermediate (or advanced) video editing apps accdg. to need & skill level

    video editing process- Vista/wmm6
    >>> open wmm- start/all programs/wmm->TASK pane
    1. Import video stream** - editing software remotely controls vcam operations
    2. Edit- drag/drop video files->timeline & enhance w/effects, transition, music & titles
    3. Publish (render)- save Movie (OK for youTube), also, save Project.msmmw file
    >>> Share=>auto-shifts to WindowsDvD authoring app->burn to DvD

    as a miniDV tape based camcorder, you will transfer video using firewire. Connect a firewire cable to the DV port of the camcorder and the firewire port of your computer. If your computer does not have a firewire port, hopefully your computer has an available expansion slot so you can add one. Firewire 400, IEEE1394a, DV and i.LINK are all the same thing. USB will not work - USB-firewire adapter/converters will not work.

    When connect using firewire, the computer can see what the camcorder sees - when MovieMaker or iMovieHD is open.
