I have a PANASONIC Lumix LZ5 point and shoot and it won’t read the memory card when turned on, ?

It won’t read the memory card , it reads momeory card error.
These photos are very precious to me becuase they are pictures of my mother with my 8 day old daughter and my mom has cancer so not much time to live. They may be the last photos of my mom living.
What could be the problem and a solution?
I have used this card severals times beofre and never had a problem until now of course when the photos really matter :(
it wont let me get to the menu on the camera in order to format it
I guess i can kiss those pics good bye
I will take it to the camera shop and hopefully the pros can get the pictures off the memory card somehow.

Try formatting the card. Some cameras offer the opportunity to have the card formatted for their system.

If that doesn't work, then your card is just incompatible and should be returned/replaced with a card more readily known in brand name, like Kingston or Sandisk. Sometimes it happens when you buy a lesser-known card brand but that's the risk.

Also, double check if it's an SDHC. I'm not too familiar with the LZ5, but I know that SDHC tends to get weird errors on SD slots. Good luck and sorry to hear about the unfortunate news. :\

Edit: Yes, I'm sorry, the card's become a dud. Try getting a card reader for your computer and see if you can salvage anything from what's there. Good luck!

Formatting WILL delete ALL your photos….if you don’t have them on your computer, DON’T FORMAT the card. Formatting is done normally BEFORE any photos are taken…
Get a card reader - they are cheap and a good investment in the long run.
