My 35mm Pentax Camera will not advance. How do I fix that?

Make sure that the "R" button on the bottom is not stuck in the in position. Just push it in a few times until it releases if it's stuck down. If that's not it, it needs repair in a shop.

Or… Maybe it's already been advanced once and needs to have the shutter button pressed. (Sorry - I have no idea what your level of experience is and I'm just trying to help!)

Dr Sam is right, but it could also be that you're at the end of the roll of film. Have you taken several shots (like 24 or 36)? If so, then rewind and pop in a new roll.

Hi JG. :) Dr. Sam and Terisu have great answers!!! Here is another consideration. If your Pentax requires a battery, it may be dead and in that case, the film winder will not advance. If none of those suggestions does the trick… It may need a trip to the camera repair. It could be a simple adjustment inside the mechanism of the winder which would not be that expensive of a repair. Good Luck.
