Can you help me pick out a new digital camera?
I want to get a new digital camera. My budget is 300 dollars or less. I am upgrading from another camera, and would like more than 3x opt. zoom. I will be photographing people and animals. What brand/kind of camera can I get?
Try going to Tiger Direct. I got a nice one for under $100. It was listed as $300. http://www.tigerdirect.com
If you're looking to buy from a real store, Olympus are always good, but their XD cards are more money then the SD cards most other brands use.
Got to be a Kodak. I'm from Rochester NY
home of Kodak
It would be foolish for someone to try to choose a camera for you, but I would suggest that you look at an Olympus SP series camera. They have a great feature to dollar ratio and Olympus sells reconditioned cameras on eBay also.
Well like one of the earlier answers stated, it's almost impossible to pick a camera out for someone you don't know.
But, and there is a but; I'm an amateur photographer myself.
I have a Fujifilm Finepix S700, and I absolutely love it.
It's listed at $229.99 at most retailers and comes with a warranty and everything. It's a 10x optical zoom with a 4.9x digital zoom [which you can turn off if you desire]. It's a 7.1 megapixel which means you can blow the picture up to a poster size & still have it crystal clear. The only downside to this amazing camera is that it lacks the port for an external flash, yet the pop-up flash that comes with is very good.
I have nothing bad to say about this camera at all.
It is absolutely amazing and from your description it sounds like it would be an option for you.
If you have any questions feel free to email me and I'd be happy to answer them.
Good luck on your search and I hope you find the camera that is right for you.
