PS3 & Sony Bravia HDMI confusion?
PS3 & Sony Bravia HDMI confusion?
This is a similar question asked a couple of weeks ago.
I too, recently bought a PS3 & hdmi cable to connect to my sony bravia tv (kdl-32d3000). I changed all the various settings to get it hdmi ready. But when i check the tv's hdmi list it has nothing detected, nothing in the device list.
Am i playing in HD or SD?
Maybe I have defective HDMI inputs. When the PS3 says it has detected HDMI output, I press yes and the screen goes blank.
I went out and bought a more expensive cable and the problem persists.
PLEASE HELP, I NEED TO GET SOME SATISFACTION ASAP!
It's likely that your Sony Bravia TV has more than one HDMI input. Check to make sure that your TV is tuned to the correct input.
if you are getting an image than theres nothing wrong with the hdmi. "expensive" cables work exactly the same as cheap ones, its basically a marketing ploy. HDMI outputs both video and audio and is a digital signal sending 1's and 0's, meaning that if you see an image it works, if you see no image and hear no sound is when you know your HDMI cables are bad. turn on your ps3, and start a game. now turn off your tv and turn it back on. at the top left corner you should see the resolution your tv is outputing at (ie "1080p, 1080i or 720p) depending on what settings you have on your tv and ps3. also if you go into "display settings" on your ps3 and change the output resolution to ONLY display 720p and 1080p and your ps3 will always upscale the image for you. this is a trick to making your ps3 think theres no other option but HD. your tv will not detect what device you have plugged into the HDMI, it only displays the image. if you can see the image than its working right. also turn on the "RGB" and "super white" settings in "display settings". this will greaty improve the image you are viewing. good luck and enjoy!!
I also have a sony bravia. make sure ur tv is in HDMI input mode. when i first hooked my ps3 up to my bravia via HDMI cable, my screen also went blank. I then realized i was still in video input(video 1, video 2, video 3), so make sure u r in HDMI input mode after u switch ur ps3 setting to HDMI.
