Sony remote won't work?

Hi
I have SONY tv, 54 Inch FLAT SCREEN NOT FLAT PANEL.
I have SONY remote when I try to use it won't work,
won't chance channel, won't do nothing no on or off or volume up or down,
I even changed the remote got universla remote from walmart. changed like 3 or 4 different remote
still not working

please guide me what to do
cannot call sony, because I bought it from you find thing scratch or refurbished
thank you

    Try unplugging the TV, count to ten and plug it in again. Really. The TV has a small processor inside that receives the signal from the remote. If that processor is confused, then it won't pay attention to any remote. Cycling power will "reboot" the processor. My mom had a Magnavox TV that needed an occasional reboot.
